The story follows NYPD Detective Jonah Wright, who, while investigating the murder of his partner Michael, discovers his supernatural heritage and a conspiracy threatening society. To expose the killer, Jonah must compete in EPOCH, an ancient fighting tournament. In issue #1, Jonah and Michael pursue a lead on a suspect, only to find the suspect killed by a blazing demon. Michael reveals himself as an angel and is killed by a masked figure. Jonah recovers and follows his estranged father Gabriel to a council of supernatural creatures.

Epoch introduces a world where supernatural beings—angels, demons, vampires, werewolves, and trolls—coexist secretly with humans, governed by a council whose leader is chosen through the EPOCH tournament. The series explores themes of heritage, sacrifice, and redemption. Jonah ultimately dies in the final battle but is reborn as an archangel, defeats Damien, and appoints Tobias as council head. The final revelation shows Tobias was working with Damien all along. The series is notable for its detailed species lore and integration of various martial arts styles into character fighting preferences.
